If you child is considering a major university you have to get them involved in being a leader. A college application is a huge resume. Scholarship forms are similar. I help students fill theirs out every year and write lots of letters on behalf of my good students. However I refused to write a letter for one student who sent his grandmother in to ask if I would do it. Please encourage your students (children) to form good relationships with their teachers. Help them to overcome their shyness by encouraging them. I told the grandmother, that her grandson would not even respond when I said hello to him, so if he did not know me, how could I write a letter for him? I said if she could get him to come in with her then I would talk to him and then be able to write the letter. They never showed up. Her other grandson was completely different, and I wrote him a letter that would help to get him into any university or any scholarship he applied for. Yes I am that good at writing these letters. I had one of my former students win at least 5 scholarships in her senior year.
